Butterfly Project
... Three young boys ran away. For that we have already had a week of "confinement to barracks" and "light's out." We walk only on columns to work, and after six o'clock in the evening, no one is allowed on the street. We come home from work in the dark and in the morning we go to work in the dark. We dress and undress by the touch system. Our windows must be darkened and it is forbidden to have any sort of light. Tomorrow I'm going to the Hamburg barracks for bread and I'll manage to see Mom...
"Confinement" has been cancelled, but "lights out" continues, evidently for the whole winter. We have to save on electricity. Each of the different blocks gets it every third day in turn. We many use candles for light, but they don't last long. Supplies from home are being used up and we can't manage to get more. It is terribly stupid, we can't even read in the evening. Without light everything is so sad and gloomy. I am awfully homesick for Prague. Evening after evening Franka and I recall things in Prague far into the night and often we dream of it in our sleep...
Last night I had a beautiful dream. I dreamed that I was at home, I saw quite clearly our flat and street. Now I am disappointed and out of sorts, because I awoke in the bunk instead of my own bed. But maybe this was some sort of omen of an early end. Then there should be permanent "lights out" all over Germany...
Old people's transport. Ten thousand sick, crippled, dying, all of them over sixty-five years old.
It's horrible everywhere. The rays of the sun fall exactly on my bunk and reach on farther, I try in vain to get away from them into the shade. Today I shan't go and report for "Service." I haven't left out a day yet, but I am too exhausted to stand the sight of misery and suffering again. The old people's transport, the young people cannot volunteer. Children have to let their old parents go off and can't help them. Why do they want to send these defenseless people away? If they want to get rid of us young people, I can understand that, maybe they are afraid of us, don't want us to give birth to any more Jewish children. But how can these old people be dangerous? If they had to come here to Terezin isn't that enough, can't they let them die in peace here? After all, these old people can't hope for anything else...
The barracks by the physical culture hall mus be cleared out, a special dinner is being cooked, and the reception center is getting ready. They say some Polish children are coming. This is all incomprehensible. Why, and how does it happen that they are brought here from Poland?
They came yesterday at five o'clock. No one is allowed near them. In the night they called some nurses, guards, and doctors. Besides these no is allowed near the barracks... You can see them a little from the fortress wall, and then they went in the morning to the reception center... They are bare legged and only a very few have shoes. They returned from the reception center with their heads shaved, they have lice. They all have such frightened eyes...
Yesterday they were taken off, doctors, nurses, and guards with them...
Where they came from we never found out, nor where they were taken either. Rumors were circulating about deportation to Palestine, but no one believes this. They have gone. All that is left is a few lines scribbled on the wall of the barracks that hardly anyone and figure out.

Berlin Memorial Activity
The thing that I learned a lot of things when Hitler was the leader of Germany. I learned that there were over 400 laws against Jews restricting them from almost everything. The Nazi's took everything from the Jews their pets, freedom, specific food, and a lot more. Hitler became strict and created more and more laws after time no one spoke up and fought against him no one cared till they lost their jobs or the law that included that. Those are the things that I learned today during class.
I think that the monument was build because it was for the people to overcome the discrimination that Hitler did to the Jews during the Holocaust.
I noticed that the laws started to become more and more stricter. In the beginning Hitler started off with only a few laws, but as time went more and more laws started coming in. People who weren't included in these laws didn't really care about it and it also showed that it didn't affect them.
The one law that I would have trouble dealing with is "Jewish children no longer to attend at public schools." I would have trouble dealing with this one because the Jewish children couldn't go to school and this means that they didn't learn anything. That is why I would have trouble dealing with this law.

Second Quarter Reflection
I think I've made my biggest improvement on citing evidence and using the TIQA format because at the beginning I never knew how to use the TIQA format or how to cite evidence, but now I know how to use it and how to cite evidence from different articles. Another thing that I think I have improved in are my blogs because at the beginning I used to make some mistakes in them. As I kept on writting more and more I have gotten better at them. Sometimes I make a little mistake, but I know that I have improved on my writting. The most recent AOW, in my opinion is the best one I have ever done. I made sure I added the essential question and chose the best peices of evidence.
Something that I have accomplished since the new year that I am proud of is getting good grades on my vocabulary quiz. I used to miss some of the words on the quiz, but then I started studying harder and I got a good grade on the next vocabulary test we took. Another thing that I accomplished was making the boys soccer team. It was the best time that I ever had I played with my friends and I learned new things about soccer that I never knew about. My coaches trained me very well I ended up making some goals, sometimes I messed up and I missed, but I had fun playing what I like to do.
The hardest part of second quarter for me was testing because we had a lot of test during quarter two. The thing that I did to over come this was studying hard a being focused on what I was doing. Some of the test that I took we very easy, but the others were challenging I tried my best on all the test that I took. I hope for the best when I get to see results from the test that I took. That was the hardest part of second quarter for me.

Book Talk
Diary of a Wimpy Kid THE LAST STRAW by Jeff Kinney the genre of the book is realistic fiction.
There are many different settings in the book some of them are Greg's house, school, church, and Roll-a-Round. The main characters of the book are Greg Heffely, Rowley Jefferson, Holly Hills, Susan Heffeley, Rodrick Heffely, and Frank Heffely. The problem of the story was that Greg's dad Frank wanted to make Greg more tougher. Greg's dad threatened to send Greg to military academy. Greg's father get tougher instead of going to military academy. So Greg manages to change his mind by not going to the military academy. The mood of the story was funny because throughout the book it made me laugh.
I liked this book because it made me laugh and it was very interesting to read about what Greg was going to do in the story. The thing that I remembered about the book was that Greg and Rowley dug a hole in Rowley's back yard because Greg's mom wouldn't let him dig it at his house so he went to Rowley's house to do it. Once they finished digging the whole they got a shoe box and they seated putting things inside of it once they finished putting things inside the shoe box they dug it and left in Rowley's backyard. I would recommend this book to my friends because if they want to read a realistic fiction book and laugh while reading then that's the book for them, but if they don't like the book there are many different types of books to choose from. The viewer should go out and get this book because it's funny and interesting.

"Are Police becoming more Violent?" By Christian Jimenez
Police Brutality is a problem because people are getting hurt or killed by policemen. Once someone gets killed by a policemen other people are going to start a protest about what had happened. The people are going to be on the news, they are going to tell the news what they saw, what happened, and why the people are protesting. There is going to be a lot of different articles and sources about police brutality. That is why police brutality police brutality is a problem.
A police brutality happened in Chicago on a Saturday before presidential election. In the article it states that, "Donald J. Trump had cast during his campaign as the nightmare of urban America, a Chicago police officer killed a 25-year-old black man (The New York Times)." This quote shows that police brutality could happen anytime. Another quote from the article is, "The next day about 20 protesters with the group Black Lives Matter Chicago showed up at the scene of the shooting, in the far southwest neighborhood of Mount Greenwood (The New York Times)." This quote shows that protesters showed up to the place where the man was killed, and they started protesting about him and to the policeman who killed him. In a CNN interview Father Michael Pfleger said, “Whether it's a racist cop, whether a vigilante, whether black on black crime murder is wrong.” This quote means that it doesn’t matter what type of crime it is murdering people is wrong.
Another incident happened on June 15 at Portillo’s in River North. Khaled Shaar which happened to be an off duty cop hit and punched Terrence Clarke on the day that the Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup in 2015. In the article it states that, “Clarke had become combative, according to police report, after Shaar asked him and his family to leave because it was closing time, and Clarke threw out cheese at him (Chicagoist).” This quote means that the police officer asked him to leave and he just threw his food at him and that’s when the off duty cop arrested him. Another quote from the article is,“He also disputed the police narrative of what happened: According to the lawsuit, Clarke told Shaar that his family would leave the restaurant once they finished their meals, and Shaar was angry that Clarke would not get up immediately, WGN reports. According to the police department, Shaar is being investigated and is not on street duty (Chicagoist).” This quote shows Clarke side of the story and what had happened during he got arrested at Portillo’s. All in all police brutality is wrong people shouldn't be getting killed or hurt by policemen it's terrible to see things that had happen on the news about police brutality.

Article of the Week Impressions Blog
Today in ELA class I learned many things one of was that a school made up a mock election. The students got to vote on who they wanted the president to be. The school was in New York city more than 380,000 students voted for the next president of the United States. Hillary Clinton won with 57 percent of the vote, while Donald Trump took 32 percent on the vote in the polls. Some of the students who voted came from California, Illinois, Texas, and New Jersey. Eight states were red, but they turned blue meaning that those eight stayed voted for Donald Trump experts predict that this will happen in the real election. After the entire school voted the kids played their part as pollsters and analyzed the school results.
Another thing that I found important during the gallery walk was Trump elected president in surprise win. Trump wants to repeal Obamacare, he also wants to unagree an agreement they had with Iran because of terrorism because he wants to keep everyone safe. Another thing that happened was Hilary won popular vote, but she lost the presidency. Those are things that I learned during ELA class today.
